Problems in alignment, mobility and stability of the limb can be causative factors for lower limb pain, biomechanical deviations and reduced functional performance (e.g. balance). In these foot limb deviations, an intervention with immediate results can be the construction of a personalised and modifiable orthotic foot orthosis that takes into account the passive, active as well as neural stability components of the individual's foot limb.

The ability to evaluate through clinical trials and customizable footwear comes from Formthotics, which has a wide collection of modifiable footwear. The insoles, with the appropriate interventions of a trained and qualified physiotherapist, are manufactured in the presence of the individual to meet their needs following a personalised examination.

Formthotics' insoles are thermoformed, so they fit better. This means that the insoles are shaped through the heat of the tread. They also provide the ability to be reshaped, with thermoforming that can be done afterwards or by applying special additional parts during manufacturing and whenever needed again, so that they remain suitable for the patient. The aim is that the insoles, with their unique design and the direct manufacturing process, which does not require a podiatrist, will fit the individual's foot in the most natural way possible and correct any imbalances.

In which conditions are orthotic insoles used

Physiotherapists may recommend orthotic insoles when in the foot extremity is observed:

  • Arthritis
  • Pain in the arch of the foot
  • Flatfoot
  • Heel spur
  • Pneumonic pneumoconiosis
  • Claustrophobia or rabophobia
  • Bursitis
  • Diabetes
  • Weakness of the muscles of the arch of the foot

Also, orthotic insoles are recommended when there is pain in the knees and hips, which may be due to misalignment of the entire lower limb, caused by biomechanical deviations of the foot.

Therapeutic goals of orthotic foot orthosis manufacturing:

Correction of biomechanical abnormalities in the lower limbs and the distal leg

  • Arch support and assistance
  • Stabilization and correction of heel function
  • Relief from pains
  • Assisting the function of the foot limb in gait
  • Prevention of injuries due to biomechanical abnormalities
