What is the learning disabilities assessment test<\/strong><\/h2>

The learning disability assessment is carried out in a series of meetings during which the specialist takes a history of the child, records the difficulties reported by parents and teachers in relation to the child's learning performance, observes school notebooks and assesses the child in reading, writing, spelling, writing and arithmetic.<\/p>

If errors are found in the written word or in reading, such as strong misspellings, omissions, substitutions, additions or transpositions of letters, but also by examining the flow of reading, the administration of the psychometric test of the American-Romanian psychologist David Wechsler, WISC (Wechsler intelligence scale of children), from which it takes its name, is recommended. It is in its 5th edition and is divided into five domains that examine a child's intelligence as a whole.<\/p>

If the results are homogeneous and within the average of Greek children of the same age (as it is weighted in our country), then the specialist can make a diagnosis of specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia). If not, i.e. if the results are below the specific average, then the difficulties are considered to be of a general type and relate to general learning difficulties. In many cases, for a more complete picture, a child psychiatric examination<\/a>, to take into account other factors that may affect the learning pathway.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Role of the Special Educator<\/strong><\/h2>

The Special Educator has two roles. The first has to do with Evaluation<\/a> and therefore the identification of indications of learning difficulties and the second by referring the child, if necessary, to the specialist psychologist who is competent to administer the WISC psychometric test mentioned above.
When the process is completed, the special educator can intervene with sessions of a special learning programme to improve learning difficulties and enrich the child's knowledge.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
